James, the son of Zebedee, was one of the very first to leave everything and follow Jesus. Alongside his brother John and Peter, he formed part of Jesus’ closest circle – witnessing miracles, hearing His most intimate teachings, and standing near Him during His most pivotal moments.
But James’s legacy didn’t end with his calling. It was sealed in his courage.
According to Acts 12:2, James was the first apostle to give his life for the Gospel. He followed Jesus not only in life, but in death – boldly, faithfully, and without turning back.

His story reminds us that following Jesus isn’t always easy. In fact, it rarely is. But it is always worth it.
James walked the hills and streets of the Land of Israel. He heard Jesus teach. He served with conviction. And even when the path led to suffering, he didn’t waver.
